Janie was born June 27, 1938 to parents Worth and Lessie Williams. Janie married Rev. James "Jimmy" Sutton in 1958 and served beside him for the next 43 years until Jimmy went to walk with Jesus in heaven. Janie is preceded in death by her siblings Worth "Jack" Williams, William "Punk" Williams, Jean Shreffer, and Cathy Ferrell. Janie is survived by her daughter Amy Gregory (Stewart) of Garner, son James Sutton (Julie) of Angier, grandchildren Caleb Pipkin (Leah), William Sutton (Carrie) and Macy Sutton. Janie was Gigi to her family and her family was her joy. She loved her children and grandchildren and was so proud of the adults they have become.

Janie loved her home state of NC. She loved visiting the coast and mountains of NC. She and Jimmy had hoped to settle in the mountains in retirement. They spent many vacations exploring small towns and experiencing the beauty and wonder of God's creation. Janie was also an experienced foreign traveler. She and Jimmy led many trips to the Holy Land and surrounding countries related to Scripture. They both walked with Jesus in life and are now walking with him in Heaven.
