Janice Deanna Hamilton Murray

Janice Deanna Hamilton Murray of Raleigh passed away peacefully at her home on October 31st, 2025, surrounded by her loving children. She was born in Raleigh on July 16th, 1940, and was the daughter of the late Louis Henry Hamilton and Etta Carrie Whitaker Hamilton. She was pleased to have graduated from the historic Broughton High School. In 1963, Janice married Ralph Murray and began raising a family who was the center of her world.

Janice took pride in her 20-year career in Customer Service with KMart. She had a love for fishing and often spent her spare time enjoying family trips to Atlantic Beach where they spent many hours on the Iron Steamer pier. Every week, she looked forward to her Saturday afternoons of lunch and shopping with her daughter and best friend, Sharon.

She was faithful to the Lord and was dedicated to her morning Daily Devotional books. She sang in the choir as a young girl and her love of hymns and music continued throughout her life, especially when accompanied by the piano. Janice could often be heard singing and humming her favorite performer, Elvis.

Along with her parents and husband, Janice is preceded in death by her brothers Elvin and Richard Hamilton and her sister Gloria Diane Hamilton Hollifield.

She is survived by her three children, Timothy, Sharon and Keith (Deborrah) Murray; and three beloved grandchildren, Tyler (Danielle), Camryn and Ayden Murray.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 8th, 2025, from 12-1:45, followed by a 2:00 funeral service at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home (1200 Benson Road, Garner, NC 27529).
