Janice Faye Blalock, 74, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 6, 2025, following a brave battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born in Lenoir County, North Carolina, on June 21, 1951, and was the daughter of the late James and Isabelle Thompson Pearce.
Janice was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and wonderful friend to many. Later in her life she met and married her great love and best friend, Glenwood Russell Blalock, spending over 20 memorable years together in Willow Spring, North Carolina.
In her personal life Janice found great joy in celebrating her unfailing love of Jesus Christ either at church or simply fellowshiping with anyone she met. Janice was adventurous, loved to travel, and had a servant's heart which was willing to help anyone during a time of need. Some of her most fondest memories were dancing and dressing to the nines with her husband, Russell. Janice was intentional about living an active, healthy lifestyle which was apparent by not only her youthful appearance but her countless acts of kindness. Janice always found the good in people and never spoke ill of anyone or any situation.
The thing she was most fond of was her family and close friends, her love and commitment to them was something to admire and was reflected in all that she did. She will be missed greatly and will forever be remembered by her family and friends as a woman of great compassion and strength.
Janice is preceded in death by her parents, James and Isabelle Thompson Pearce, her sister Martha P. Taylor and her grandson AtsahNezz “Nezzy” Thompson. She is survived by her loving husband, Glenwood Russell Blalock of the home and their fur-babies Missy and Henry; son, Billy Morey, daughter, Crystal Thompson (Malcom), also her bonus children Christie Searles (Chris), Karen Blalock, Jefferey Blalock, and Pamela Hogg (Jason); brother James W. Pearce Jr, sisters Brenda P. Jones, Debbie P. Waggener (Chris), Patrica Pearce, Tammy P. Sowers, and Lori P. Simonson (Dan); her grandchildren Aubrie Morey, Evan Morey, Naalzheeh Thompson, Nahootsoii Thompson; bonus grandchildren Anna Creech, Amanda Creech, Morgan Durham, Braxton Motley, Sebastian Helms, Ayden Searles and Braelyn Searles, and countless extended family and friends all of whom she loved very dearly.
