James Arthur "Pete" Williams, 87, of Garner, North Carolina, passed away on August 29, 2026.
Pete was born in Carter County, Oklahoma to Ozella Mae Williams and Ithasca Williams. He worked for 37 years at IBM starting at the age of 17 and built many strong friendships. He was in the design team for computer keyboards, the redesign of computer chips as well as learning how to program. He achieved an Electrical Engineering Batchelor degree from Oklahoma University and a master's degree from Vermont University, being chosen one out of twenty-five worldwide to participate in this endeavor. Pete competed in the Sr. Olympics for many years. He has always been actively involved in his Church and its activities, helping many along his path, living Christ-like and leading them to Salvation and would hope to see each of you there.
Pete is survived by his Wife of 68 years, Doris Gay Rogers; 3 children, Valerie Hicks (Alan), Alyna (Mark), and daughter-in-law Melanie Williams. He was preceded in death by his son, Jef Williams. He had 3 grandchildren, Lisa Davis (Terry), Westley Godwin (Michelle), Megan Ferguson (Andrew), 5 great grandchildren, Nicole Pendergraft (Kyle), Tyler Davis, Creed Davis, Myla Godwin, and Caleb Agbejule, and 2 great great grandchildren, Jennings Pendergraft and Lillian James Pendergraft.
