James Stephenson

RALEIGH - James A. Stephenson, Jr. (Jim), age 77, passed away early Sunday morning, July 27, 2025. He was born on May 17, 1948, in Raleigh. He was the son of the late Lacy and James A. Stephenson, Sr.

Jim is survived by his wife, Lou Stephenson of Raleigh and his daughter, Ellen Stephenson of Charlotte. He was predeceased by his sister, Geri; son, Chance Stephenson; and grandson, Kyle Stephenson.

Jim was owner/operator of the Community Mart Convenience Store on Old Stage Road. Jim's store is truly the center of our community, being widely known as the "Hot Dog Store". He was honest, fair and kind to all.

He treasured his friends more than you know. He loved nothing more than to meet them at Logan's Roadhouse for a beer and fellowship.

The family would like to thank Dr. DeCastro at the Duke Cancer Center. The staff and nurses were very dear to Jim. He always gave them lottery tickets at his weekly appointments.

We would also like to thank Cathy at Hands On PT in Fuquay-Varina for all the PT she provided to Jim.

The family will receive friends and relatives for visitation from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home in Garner.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, July 31, 2025, in the Chapel of Bryan-Lee Funeral Home in Garner.

Private entombment will occur at Montlawn Memorial Park on another date.
