James Andrew Staley

James Andrew Staley, age 80, of Fuquay-Varina, NC (Wake Co) died on April 30th, 2026. Preceded in death by his parents, Walter Hobart Staley and Muriel Hughes Staley, James was born in Greensboro, NC (Guilford Co) on July 25th, 1945.

James is survived by: his wife of 49 years, Margaret Stevens Staley; a daughter and son-in-law, Myra and Neal Manning and their children, Anthony, Isaiah, Cara and Alden of Fuquay-Varina; and a son, George W. Staley of Roanoke Rapids, NC.

Joining the U.S. Army in 1966, James served 3 years as a meteorologist, stationed at Yuma, AZ.

A graduate of the Technical Institute of Alamance, James worked in chemistry labs and their computer support, at CIBA-Geigy, Aq Division in Greensboro, NC, GlaxoSmithKline at Research Triangle Park, and the Department of water quality for the state of NC, in Raleigh.

On Saturday, May 9th, 2026 and 2:00PM, family and friends are invited to a memorial service at Grace Community Church, 2160 Harnnett Central Road, Angier, NC, 27501. The family will hold a private committal service for James at his final resting place, Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, Goldsboro, NC.
