Jacqueline “Jackie” Rae (Treleven) Brunle, 77, Garner, NC, passed away peacefully at home on June 6th, 2025. Born December 29, 1947, in East Liverpool, Ohio, Jackie grew up in Chester, WV, daughter of the late Gayle McDonald Treleven and Raymond “Bud” Treleven. Jackie was a 1965 graduate of Oak Glen High School and received her teaching degree from Fairmont State College. After two years of teaching at Allison Elementary in Chester, she took a teaching position in Edzell, Scotland, on the US Naval Base, where she met her future husband, Daniel Frederick Brunle. They were married May 19, 1973. Dan passed on September 15, 2002.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Jackie was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Frederick William Brunle; mother-in-law, Helen Sullivan Brunle; and sister-in-law, Kathy Brunle Steigerwald, as well as her brother, James “Jim” Treleven, and brother-in-law Lee Rice.
Jackie leaves behind her son Sean Patrick Brunle and his husband John "JD" Domenichelli of San Diego, CA. Along with her daughter, Kelly Rae Ballard, husband Bryan Ballard, her beloved grandson, Bryan Jr. (Buddy) Ballard of Clayton, NC, and his sister, Katie Ballard of Iowa. Her sister and closest friend Cindy Rice and her family from Ohio include Abi, Gregg, Wyatt & Evie Buchheit, and Andrew Rice and his partner Sydney Tray, and Jim Treleven’s son Justin and his children in Texas. Numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and other family members; one special call-out to Aunt Margaret “Peg” McDonald Milby, family matriarch in West Virginia.
Other survivors include her niece, Christine (Kenny) Meoni & daughter Melissa. Her niece Susan (Jamie) Klement & children, Sara & Jesse. Her nephew, Michael (Jennifer) Kozicki.
Jackie loved to dance, listen to Motown's best, bake cookies for everyone, and read voraciously (especially cowboy romance novels!), and was always surrounded by family, friends, and neighbors. Jackie was the host of the annual neighborhood Easter egg hunt, softball mom, and was famous for her baked ziti. Additionally, Jackie and Dan were instrumental in introducing Hilda to Mark “Lamar” in Edzel, Scotland, who became Mr. and Mrs. Kohl, and lifelong friends.
A celebration of Jackie’s life will be held at the Bryan-Lee Funeral Home at 1200 Benson Rd., Garner, NC on Saturday, June 14th from 1-3. Honoring Jackie’s love for food and people - appetizers and good conversation will be served. Jackie loved color, so please dress accordingly.
The family requests memorial donations be made in Jackie’s name to www.readandfeed.org – a place to strengthen literacy skills among underserved elementary school children and provide meals in a nurturing neighborhood environment.
