Hilton Douglas Johnson
Hilton Douglas "Doug" Johnson, 89, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2026.
Doug was born on November 15, 1936, in Dallas, Texas, to Hilton Hugh Johnson and Lottie Elizabeth Leatherwood, who preceded him in death. Although his given name was Hilton, he was known and loved by family and friends as Doug. He proudly served his country in the United States Coast Guard before dedicating his life to his family and those he loved.
Family was the center of Doug's life. He found great joy in coaching his children's sports teams, sharing in their accomplishments, and being a constant source of encouragement and support. In later years, he loved nothing more than spoiling his grandchildren and creating special memories with the next generations of his family.
Doug also enjoyed many hobbies throughout his life. He loved reading books, spending time on the golf course, and enjoying a good game of bowling. These activities brought him happiness and provided many opportunities to create friendships and lasting memories.
Doug is survived by his beloved wife, Pam Johnson; his sister, Peggy Coke; his children, Tammy Compton (Lloyd), Sherri Riba (Phil), Todd Johnson (Shonna), Larry Johnson (Linda), and Dana Moore (Greg); his grandchildren, Kayla (Alec), Tyler (Brittney), Nicolas, Patrick, Lea, MacLain, Branden, Cameron, and Kyle; and his great-grandchildren, Nolan, Hunter, Axel, and one angel baby. Doug leaves behind extended family and friends who will forever cherish the memories they shared with him.
Doug will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his service to his country, and the love he gave so freely to those around him. His greatest legacy is the family he nurtured, the lives he touched, and the memories that will be treasured for generations.
In accordance with Doug's wishes, there will be no funeral service. He will be cremated, and his family will honor his life and memory in a private manner.
Though our hearts are heavy with his passing, we are grateful for the years we shared with Doug and for the love, guidance, and memories he leaves behind. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
