ANGIER – Hazel Hockaday Hughes, 92, passed away on Saturday at Greenleaf Care Center. A native of Harnett County she was the daughter of the late Nathan and Mamie Tucker Hockaday. Funeral Service will be Wednesday at 2:00 pm at Angier Fellowship Church, Angier. Burial will follow at Lakeside Memorial Gardens, Angier. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00-8:00 pm at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Angier. Surviving is her son, Philip Ray Hughes and wife, Jo Nell of Raleigh; sisters, Daphine Holleman of Baltimore, MD, Rebecca Stephenson of Rural Hall, Shirley Petrush of Baltimore, MD, Connie Johnson of Four Oaks; brother, Dennis Starling of Dunn; grandchildren, Debbie Cooper and husband, Johnny of Raleigh, Kelly Deal and husband, Travis of Angier, Kris Pope of Angier; four great-grandsons; son-in-law, Terry Pope of Angier. In addition to her parents Hazel was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Talmage Hughes; daughter, Janet Hughes Pope; sister, Lois Powell; brother, Raeford Hockaday.
