Harvey Randolph Anderson, beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away, November 17th, at the age of 77. Born on November 25, 1947, in Richmond, Virginia, he was the cherished son of Harriet and James Henry Anderson.
A proud graduate of Maggie L. Walker High School, Class of 1966, Harvey attended Fayetteville State University before answering the call to serve his country. He joined the United States Air Force and completed a full tour of duty in Vietnam, where he served with honor and distinction.
After returning home, Harvey began a long and accomplished career as a computer specialist at the Pentagon. His dedication and expertise later led him to the Department of Defense, where his work took him to Germany in 1985. It was there, on his very first day abroad, that he met Esther-the love of his life and devoted wife of more than 38 years.
Harvey retired in 2002, having earned numerous awards and accolades for his exceptional service and professional excellence. Beyond his impressive career, he was best known for his quiet smile, dry sense of humor, gentle spirit, and quick wit-qualities that left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Harvey is survived by his loving wife, Esther Anderson; his children, Peyton Thomas and his children, Jimmy, and Zachary.), India Yates (and her husband, Paris Yates, and their children, Asia (and her husband, Ricardo Oliver) China, and Paris Jr.); Ethel Cooke (and her husband, Vincent Cooke), Barbara Etheridge (and her husband, Steave; Andreas Winston (and his wife, Rebecca, and son, Joshua Ziegler); James Winston; Evette Arbato (and her husband, Frank, and their children, Shane, Naomi, and Lia); Ninette Erhardt (and her husband, Stefan, and their children, Tara and Liam).
A celebration of Harvey's life will be held at Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia on November 24th at 1:00. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance and gratitude for a life well lived.
Harvey will be remembered with deep love and gratitude by all who were blessed to know him. His legacy of kindness, humor, and integrity will continue to inspire those he leaves behind.
