Glenn David Spivey, Sr., age 89, of Fuquay-Varina, NC died on Sunday, May 17, 2026 at Windsor Point Retirement Community. He was born on December 25, 1936 in Wake County, NC to the late Marvin and Margie Spivey.
He is survived by his children, David Spivey (Jill), Jeanne Dean (Gary), Tammy Adcock (Jay), Taylor Gaskins, Ben Fish (Maye); his sister, Bobbie Rhodes; his grandchildren, Gray Spivey (Gabi), Clint Dean, Nolan Dean (Vickie), Phillip Dean, James Adcock (Jennifer), Jacquelyn Lane (Todd), Sydney Morsch (Ryan), Summer Ceparano (Matthew), Savannah Gaskins, Adam Fish (Kaitlin), Addison Fish, Diana Bevan (Bradley), Sandra Nieto, and Gerardo Nieto; his great-grandchildren, Jackson, Piper, Lincoln, Emery, Easton, Charlotte, Stewart, Cohen, Eva, Jameson, Bennett.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Daisy Ethel Currin, Mary Ann Wortham, William Clinton Spivey and Mitchell Spivey; his son-in-law, Gene Gaskins.
Glenn was a United States Army Veteran.
Glenn was a man whose life was filled with faith, music, family, and the simple joys that brought people together. He had a lifelong passion for harness horse racing. He also found great joy on the dance floor, where his talent and enthusiasm for dancing inspired many. Whether teaching others new steps or simply sharing a dance with friends, he made every gathering brighter.
An outdoorsman at heart, Glenn loved fishing and farming, appreciating the peace and satisfaction that came from working the land and spending time on the water. Baseball was another great love in his life. He not only enjoyed playing the game but also dedicated many years to coaching, encouraging young athletes and teaching them the value of teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship.
Faith was the foundation of his life. He was a devoted and active member of his church, where he faithfully served and worshipped for many years. One of his greatest joys was singing with the Spivey Quartet, sharing his love of gospel music and touching the hearts of all who heard him sing.
His family will receive friends Tuesday, May 19, 2026 from 2:00 to 2:45 pm in Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 300 E. McIver Street, Angier, NC.
His funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 19, 2026 at 3:00 pm in the Chapel of Bryan-Lee Funeral Home. His burial will be private.
