Glenda Gaye Flowers McLeod

Glenda Gaye Flowers McLeod, 77, of Angier, North Carolina, passed away on November 14, 2025, at Betsy Johnson Memorial Hospital. Glenda was a loving wife, mother, and sister.

Born on February 13, 1948, she was the beloved daughter of the late Dathan and Excelle Flowers. Glenda was the lifelong partner of Mack McLeod, to whom she was married for 47 years. A devoted and supportive wife, she was always there for Mack in every way he needed. Together, they shared business ventures including a restaurant, card shop, wholesale florist, and rental properties. Glenda was never afraid of hard work and was the foundation of a beautiful marriage.

Raised on the family farm in Harnett County-a place she always held dear-Glenda graduated proudly from Coats High School and pursued college studies before embarking on a career in administration and public service. Her professional journey began at Fort Bragg and the U.S. Geological Survey, followed by work as a bookkeeper for Premium Flower Company. After taking time to raise her children, she served in the office at Angier Baptist Church. She later concluded her career as Office Administrator at Harnett Central High School and Angier Elementary School.

Glenda was full of grace and embodied the definition of a servant's heart. She poured her energy into her church and community, serving faithfully at Angier Baptist Church on the Bereavement and Nominating Committees. She was recognized for her service and named Angier Chamber of Commerce Woman of the Year (2014). She dedicated much of her time to the Harnett County Buddy Backpack program, and when not doing so, she visited shut-in church members or stopped by nursing homes to brighten someone's day. She contributed her talents to numerous other church committees and regularly supported the Angier Kiwanis Club. Glenda leaves behind a legacy of compassion and service that touched countless lives.

Her greatest joy came from her grandchildren, who were her first and foremost passion. She also loved arranging flowers, visiting Atlantic Beach with her family, and attending sporting events at Campbell University. Glenda enjoyed reading and studying the Bible, and her love of the Lord was reflected in everything she said and did.

Glenda is survived by her daughter, Audra McLeod Edwards, and husband, Daniel of Angier; daughter, Kitty McLeod Johnson, and husband, Lofton of Clayton; son, Neill McLeod, and wife, Francine of Raleigh; and sons, Joseph McLeod and Dwight McLeod, both of Raleigh. She cherished her grandchildren: Charlie McLeod (Charlie Mack) Johnson, Lillian Johnson, Lucas Edwards, Nathan Edwards, Lila Grace McLeod, Jordan McLeod, Nicholas McLeod, Hart McLeod, and Taylor Locklear, along with Taylor's husband, Dillon of Shallotte and their son, Miles. Glenda is also survived by her sister, Jennifer Flowers of Angier; niece, Jamie Frye of Coats; and nephew, Owen Regan of Coats. She was preceded in death by her sister, Gail Regan of Coats.

Above all, Glenda will be remembered for how deeply she loved others and how freely she gave of her time and herself. Her kindness, generosity, and unwavering faith will be greatly missed.
