Sue Kelly Gill, 76, lifelong Garner resident, passed away on January 22, 2026, after several months of declining health. She had her daughter Savannah Lapinskes(Zane) and her beloved sisters, Retha Lineberger(Paul) and Melanie Johnson(Bruce) with her so she would not be alone in the journey. Her son Hu and husband Hubert, who predeceased her, were there to greet her as she entered eternity.
As anyone who knew Sue could tell you, family was her joy, especially when the time came for her to share life with grandchildren. She leaves behind seven: Sarah Kiker(Stone); Benjamin, Elijah, and Silas Lapinskes; Landon, Rosemary, and Ian Gill. Each one was precious and unique to her, and she loved them "a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck".
Sue also valued her friends and the laughter they shared with her. She had lifelong friends from childhood and high school that she continued to connect with regularly; but she was always making new friends wherever she went, and as we all know, "GO" was her middle name. She loved to travel, drive or ride anywhere, as long as she was moving! As her health declined recently and the "GO" became more difficult, she was especially grateful to the friends and family who would "COME" to her to visit, to play games, or to offer words of encouragement. There are too many of you to name individually without forgetting someone, but please know in your heart the gift you gave by being there for her.
In addition to those already mentioned, Sue is survived by her daughter-in-law, Erica Gill; brother-in-law, Randy Gill(Charlie); sister-in-law, Annette Seidel; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her neighbor-sister, Faye Jenkins. Additionally, she was predeceased by her parents, Tom and Grace Kelly, and her sisters, Brenda Pritchard and Lynda House.
A memorial service to celebrate Sue's life will be held on February 5th, 2026 at 3pm in the sanctuary at Aversboro Road Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to either "Able to Serve" of Garner or "Transitions Lifecare" of Wake County, two organizations where Sue previously volunteered and that held a special place in her heart.
