Gerolene Stephenson

Gerolene "Gerry" Smith Sorrell Stephenson, age 89, of Willow Spring, NC passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, December 21, 2025, in Green Leaf Care Center. She was born on March 11, 1936, in Harnett County, NC to the late Hubert and Gladys Smith.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Gerry made sure that all of her family was taken care of and loved beyond measure. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church, her beloved Sunday School Class, The Ladies Class, and her visitation group, Morning Mercies. She loved being able to worship the Lord at her church, learn about him in Sunday School and being his hands and feet visiting with the visitation group.

In her professional career, she worked at Kerr Drug for over 35 years, retiring to enjoy life with her family and friends.

She is survived by her daughters, Joy S. Brown and her husband, Bill, Sharon S. Hancock and her husband, Ricky, Tammy S. Pope and her husband, Morris, and Gail S. Turner; her sister, Myrtle Carpenter and her husband, Truman; her eleven grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and many well-loved nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Sorrell and her husband of 46 years, Jimmy J. Stephenson; her sister, Clara Dorman; and her brothers, Pannie Smith, Roger Smith and Johnny Smith.

Her visitation will be held on Friday, December 26, 2025, from 1:00 to 1:45 pm in the Fellowship Baptist Church, 1701 Bud Lipscomb Road, Willow Spring, NC.

Her memorial service will be held on Friday, December 26, 2025, at 2:00 pm in the Fellowship Baptist Church.

The family will hold a private graveside service at a later time to lie Gerry to rest beside her husband, Jimmy, in Willow Spring Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family would like to express their thanks to Green Leaf Care Center, Transitions LifeCare and especially her two caregivers with Transitions LifeCare, Tonya and Tonya.
