Geroleen Dickens Hilliard

Geroleen D. Hilliard went to rest in the arms of her Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 11th, 2026. She was born in Franklin County, North Carolina on December 29th, 1932 to the late Charlie D. Dickens and Sadie Collins Driver Dickens. She was one of seven children.

Geroleen was a faithful wife; devoted mother, best cook ever, talented seamstress and strong disciplinarian. She was also devoted to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She worked many years on projects at the church, especially the Ebenezer Bar-B-Ques.

She is survived by her three children, daughter; Delores Hilliard, Sons; Dennis Hilliard (Patty) of Clayton, NC and Durwood Hilliard of Raleigh, NC. Five grandchildren; Shelly Rivera (Victor) of Mystic, CT, Ashley Lawson (Phillip) of Wendell, NC, James Paul (JP) Hilliard of Garner, NC, Samantha, and Alexandra, seven great-grandchildren, sisters; Darrow Beck of Rolesville, NC, Judy Stallings of Louisburg, NC, Rachel Collier (Darrell) of Franklinton, NC, brothers; Charlie D. Dickens Jr. of Raleigh, NC, James Dickens (Millie) of Franklinton, NC, and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband Paul L. Hilliard, Jr of 60 years; Sister, Barbara Bennett; Brother-In-Law, Leo Bennett; Brother-In-Law, Owen Beck; Sister-In-Law, Shelby Dickens; granddaughter, Elizabeth Hilliard.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 17th from 12:00 PM to 1:00PM at Ebenezer Methodist Church. A service will follow at 1PM at Ebenezer Methodist Church. Burial will follow the service at Montlawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ebenezer Methodist Church Building Fund, 2060 Rock Quarry Rd, Raleigh, NC, 27610.
