Georgia Kennedy

September 20, 1939 — February 28, 2025

Angier- Georgia Torrans Kennedy went home to be with Jesus on Friday, February 28th, 2025, after a 17-year long battle with cancer.

Georgia was born on September 20th, 1939, in Warsaw, NC. She attended Warsaw High School and married Wayne, her husband of 67 years, in 1957. She learned to sew after the arrival of her daughter and enjoyed making clothing and home decor for her family and friends for many years. Along with raising their two children, she and Wayne had multiple business ventures before joining the Apex post office as mail carriers. After working as a postal carrier for 13 years, Georgia retired to devote all her time to loving and serving her family and friends. Although Georgia and Wayne attended many churches over the years, they found their permanent home at Cary Christian and Missionary Alliance Church. She was active in ministry, particularly as a greeter on Sunday mornings. She is remembered fondly by the church for many years of hosting a widow's brunch at Christmastime. She was passionate about serving people both at church events and in her home. Cooking meals for her family and friends brought her great joy.

Georgia was preceded in death by her parents Arola and Boney Torrans of Warsaw, NC, her three brothers, one sister, her granddaughter Jennifer Kennedy, great-granddaughter Kaitlyn Crannell, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She is survived by her husband Wayne, her son Wayne Jr. (Bridget) of Louisburg, NC, her daughter Wendy Freeman (Van) of Fayetteville, NC, her twelve grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, her cousin Bobby Frederick (Greta) of Castle Hayne, NC, and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 8th at Cary Alliance Church, located at 4108 Ten-Ten Rd, Apex, NC 27539, with a visitation being held beforehand from 12:00-1:45 pm. Burial will follow the service at Lakeside Memorial Gardens in Angier.
