George V. Batten, Sr.

GARNER- George V. Batten, Sr., 76, went to be with the Lord Friday. A native of Johnston County. George was the owner/operator of A-1 Auto Sales on Old Garner Rd. for 25 years. He also proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. A devoted son, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend too many. Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Monday Dec. 19, 2011 at The Capital Church 1308 US Hwy 70 W. Garner. Burial to follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Clayton. He was preceded in death by his a brother, Perry Batten. He is survived by his wife; Melba Elizabeth Batten, mother; Lessie Pilkington Batten, sons; George Batten and wife Elaine, John and wife Wendy, Bryan and wife Cindy and Robert and wife Donna; sisters; Dorothy Gazaway and Francis Williams; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
