George Sandy

George Franklin Sandy of Raleigh, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2025.

Born in Wake County on July 12, 1936. George was the son of the late Irvin Edward Sandy and Alice Cozy Medlin. He was predeceased by his loving wife Shirley Jean Higgins; sister, Kay Frances Sandy; and brother, Irvin Edward Sandy Jr.

George served honorably in the United States Air Force.

George worked as a correctional officer for the North Carolina Department of Corrections, and he was also a volunteer fireman for the Garner Station 2 Fire Department.

He is survived by his children Connie Jean Sandy and Jennifer Sandy McKee (Charles); sister Dianne Sandy Sorrell, his three grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 5th at 11:00 AM at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home in Garner. The visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00 - 10:45 AM. Interment will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park in Raleigh.
