Gennie Helms Watkins

GARNER- Gennie Helms Watkins, 86, died Tuesday at her home. Born in Union County, she was the daughter of the late Floyd Maxwell Helms and Cornelia Russell Helms. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Thursday at Fellowship Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 pm at the church prior to the service. Survivors include her husband, Lawrence “Larry” Watkins; daughters, Pamela Johnson of Garner and Denise Smith of Raleigh; son, Alan Watkins of Garner; sister, Juanita Aldridge of Charlotte; brother, Thomas Helms; as well as 7 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sons, Russell Watkins and Jerry Watkins; sisters, Agnes Griffin, Roxie Thomas, and Dorothy Phifer; brother, Craven Helms.
