Gene Aaron Lunsford

Gene A Lunsford, 84, of Raleigh, NC, passed away peacefully on Mar 8th, 2026.

Born on Jan 13th in Bristol, Va, Gene was the beloved son of William and Katherine (Maw). He played baseball in high school and served in the army where he traveled to Germany. He went on to work as a mechanic for Bluebell, traveling to places like Puerto Rico, before becoming an electrician and finally working independently for many years.

Gene was a devoted father and grandfather. He found joy in watching the neighborhood wildlife of birds, squirrels, and bunnies. Those who knew him will remember him for his quiet nature, work ethic, and intelligence.

He is survived by his son, Patrick Lunsford and Misty; daughter, Erin Sorrell and Ben; grandchildren, Bodie, Eli, Sophie, and Jaxon. He was preceded in death by his wife, Viola.

A graveside service was held on April 3rd at Forest Hills Memorial Garden.

Gene will be deeply missed and forever remembered for the love he gave and the lives he touched.
