Eva Grace Davalos

Eva Grace Davalos, affectionately known as "Mommoms" by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord after a life devoted to faith, family, and love.

Eva was born on September 19, 1933, in Guayaquil, Ecuador, to Nivardo Nuñez and Esther (Yépez) Nuñez. One of nine children, she was raised on a self-sustaining family ranch where she developed a lifelong appreciation for nature, hard work, and simplicity. She treasured her childhood surrounded by horses, farm animals, and the beauty of the countryside—values that remained with her throughout her life.

On September 30, 1948, Eva married the love of her life, Hernan Edmundo Davalos, in Salinas, Guayas, Ecuador. Together they began their journey as husband and wife before immigrating to the United States in the early 1960s, settling in New Jersey to build a new life and pursue the American dream.

Eva was a fiercely independent, loving, and devoted mother whose greatest accomplishment and deepest joy was raising her ten children. Her home was always filled with love, sacrifice, and unwavering support for her family. As her children grew and started families of their own, Eva built a successful career as a seamstress, working independently before joining Levolor. She later spent more than 20 years in the jewelry department at JCPenney, where she retired after a career marked by dedication and exceptional work ethic.

Following retirement, Eva relocated to Angier, North Carolina, where she enjoyed the home, she built and remained for the rest of her life. She took great pride in caring for her home and yard, and she never lost her love of sewing, knitting, gardening, and keeping a welcoming, immaculate home.

Nothing brought Eva greater happiness than spending time with her family. She cherished every opportunity to celebrate life's milestones—weddings, birthdays, baptisms, First Communions, graduations, holidays, and family vacations. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who lovingly called her "Mommoms," held a special place in her heart and brought her immeasurable joy.

Above all, Eva's faith in Jesus Christ was the foundation of her life. Through every blessing and every hardship, her faith gave her strength, hope, and peace. She trusted God throughout her life and entered His eternal presence surrounded by the love of her family.

Eva is reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, Hernan Edmundo Davalos, her son, Maurice Davalos and those family members who preceded her in death.

She is survived by her nine children:

Eva was also blessed with 34 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren, each of whom brought tremendous happiness to her life.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 8, at 1:00 p.m. at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 300 E. McIver Street, Angier, NC.

Eva will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Hernan Edmundo Davalos and son Maurice Davalos, in Dover, New Jersey.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Ecuadormipais.org, a children’s not for profit to honor Eva's lifelong love and compassion for children.
