Eva Joan Byrd, 83, passed away peacefully at home on April 9, 2026, surrounded by her immediate family. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Randson ("Bill") Byrd, along with 46 cherished family members, including her children: Tami (Mike) Vevurka, Resa Cross, Randy (Ramona) Byrd, Trish (and Justin) Burroughs as well as 33 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Fondly known as "Joan Angel," she earned this nickname through a lifetime devoted to serving others. For more than 40 years, she led and supported compassionate ministries, reaching out to the sick, the poor, and those in need. She lived out her faith daily, guided by the words of Matthew 25:40: "Truly, I tell you, whatever you did for the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me." Her legacy leaves behind a powerful example of love and service-one that others are inspired to carry forward. We find comfort and joy in the promise of seeing her again in heaven, where there is no more pain or sorrow.
A public Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on May 2, 2026, at Amplify Church (2884 NC 42, Willow Springs, NC). www.amplifychurchnc.org
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Victory Junction (victoryjunction.org) or Threads of Love through Amplify Church.
