Eunice Vos, 94, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2026, after suffering a stroke for 12 days. The Lord called Eunice home, where she is now at peace.
Eunice was born at home in Chicago, Illinois, to Gilbert and Agnes Evers. She was the oldest of seven siblings. She married Clarence Vos in December 1952, and together they raised four children: Susan, Thomas, Timothy, and Rebecca. Clarence preceded her in death in 2014.
Eunice was a faithful helpmate, loving mother, devoted homemaker, and a woman of great strength and generosity. After her mother passed away at an early age, Eunice became the matriarch of her family and opened her home to her siblings for every holiday. She was a very hard worker and was known for being extremely generous and caring toward others.
Throughout their married life, Eunice and Clarence shared homes in Evergreen Park, Illinois; Eagle River, Wisconsin; Fort Lauderdale, Florida; and Highlands, North Carolina. They eventually settled in Garner, North Carolina, where they purchased the home next door to their daughter, Rebecca, and her husband, Rudolf.
Eunice is survived by her daughters, Susan Hollister and Rebecca VanderVelde (Rudy), and her sons, Thomas S. Vos (Caryn) and Timothy P. Vos. She is also survived by her sisters, Phyllis DiVenere and Ruth VanEck.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Paul, Philip, and Gilbert Evers, and her sister, Louise Spoolstra.
Eunice leaves behind eight grandchildren: Thomas Jr., Brian Vos, Kimberly, Timothy Jr., Scott Vos, Keith VanderVelde, Rudolf A. VanderVelde, and Christina Reyna, as well as 14 great-grandchildren, who brought her much joy and love.
Eunice will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family, her hard work, her generous heart, and the home she so lovingly made a gathering place for those she loved. Her memory will live on in the many lives she touched.
