Eula Bass Avery, 94, passed away on July 28, 2025, following a period of declining health. She was born in Sampson County, North Carolina, on November 20, 1930, and was the daughter of the late Marvin Bass and Eva Madery Kirby.
Eula was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother. Early in her life she met and married her great love and best friend, Jimmy G. Avery, spending 48 memorable years together before his passing in September of 1995. The thing she was most fond of was her family, her love and commitment to them was something to admire and was reflected in all that she did. She will be missed greatly and will forever be remembered by her family and friends as a woman of great compassion and strength.
In addition to her parents, Eula is preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy G. Avery; sons, Jimmy Ray Avery and Tommy Avery; sisters, Ruth Pope and Alice Bass; brothers, Marvin Bass, Robert Bass, and Charles Bass; granddaughter, Christy Avery Odoms; grandson, Donald Lee Avery, Jr.; all of whom she loved very dearly.
Eula is survived by her loving sons, Ronnie G. Avery and Donald L. Avery; sister, Louise Phillips; 8 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and by 10 great great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at 10:00 AM, at Lakeside Memorial Gardens, 2712 Oak Grove Church Road, Angier, NC 27501.
