Esther Mae Prevatt

With heartfelt sorrow, the family of Esther Mae Parker Prevatt, age 83, announces her passing on July 24, 2026. Born on February 8, 1943, in Lumberton, NC, she was the beloved daughter of Dr. Roy Parker and Mamie Lamb Parker, both of whom preceded her in death.

Esther spent her working years keeping accounting books for businesses in farm equipment and construction. She enjoyed shopping, playing cards with friends, and giving gifts to others. 

She is survived by her husband, Kennith Russell Prevatt; her son, James Marvin Mercer (Wendy); her daughter, Annette Mercer Springle (Jeremy); her stepsons, Stephen Russell Prevatt (Laurie), Jeffrey Thomas Prevatt (Judy); Shelton Woody Mercer and step-son-in-law, Cliff Edwards. She leaves behind 15 beautiful adult grandchildren and several precious great‑grandchildren and great‑great‑grandchildren, all of whom will carry her legacy forward with love.

She was preceded in death by her husband Marvin Woody Mercer, her step‑daughter Sherry Mercer Edwards, and her step‑daughter‑in‑law Elizabeth Sutton Mercer.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Bryan‑Lee Funeral Home in Garner, NC. The funeral service will follow on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at Garner Church in Garner, NC.

The family extends sincere gratitude to the many caregivers and friends for their support and compassion during the last few months. A special thank you to neighbors Ashley and Mike Tart, and Garner Church family for their overwhelming love.
