July 10 th , 2026, of Los Angeles, CA. beloved son (ne Rodak) of the late Ernest Rodak and late Wendy Anna Rodak (nee Smyrock), and survived by loving brothers of Nicholas J. (Patricia M.) Rodak and Alexander R. Rodak. Dearest Uncle of Nathan Y.; Samuel Y.; and Natalia Y. Rodak. Also survived by Pippin.
Ernest graduated from SUNY Fredonia in 1984 with a B.S. in Chemistry and then Case Western Reserve University (Cleveland, OH) in 1991 with an MS in Materials Science. Over the course of his working life he became an accomplished battery test engineer, an accredited Master Black Belt Lean Six Sigma practitioner, and a graduate of the MFA program in Creative Writing at San Diego State University where he also taught rhetoric & composition. He published poetry in literary journals such as Blue Mesa Review, South Dakota Review, and Sulphur River Literary Review. He co-edited and published "Jukebox: Centuries of Song in Verse: An Anthology of Poetry" (2014), an effort to bring together poems from the course of history, past and present, and place them along a musical tradition in a unique shuffle feature. He loved writing poetry, listening to critical thinkers such as Susan Kokinda and Clif High, and strived for effective, heartfelt communication.

A graveside service and burial service will take place Friday July 17 at 10:00 AM at Raleigh Memorial Park, 7501 Glenwood Ave., Raleigh, NC 27612. To relive, remember, and celebrate Uncle Ernie, a 12:00 PM luncheon reception will then be held at J. Alexander's, 4600 Crabtree Valley Ave., Raleigh, NC 27612. In lieu of flowers, donations to Blue Mesa Review, Department of English Language and Literature at University of New Mexico would be appreciated (link To send flowers or plant a tree in memory of Ernest M.
