Eliot was born to William Titus Thompson and Marion (Hussey) Thompson in the East Dedham neighborhood of Norwood Mass. In 1950, Eliot joined the Army and for over two decades proudly served his country earning the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, a National Defense Service Medal and four Good Conduct Medals. In 1972 Eliot retired and was honorably discharged from the military as an expert in Carbine and Rifle shooting, having learned and taught radio repair and communications during his tenure. While in the Army, Eliot met the love of his life, Edith Redfoot, marrying on November 20, 1964.
While on deployment in Germany, Eliot and Edith began their family, welcoming a son Peter in 1968, and upon return to the states, while living in Fayetteville, NC, stationed at Fort Bragg, they welcomed their daughter Heather and made the decision to retire from military service and move to La Puente, CA. In 1972 Eliot began a twenty-year career with Beckman Enterprises, where he used his expertise in radio communications and repair to assemble what were some of the first computer chips produced. When Eliot retired in 1992, he and Edith relocated to Hadley, PA where they would live for the next 30 years, surrounded by friends, family and church. Eliot was the 'sound man' for Clarks Mills Church, Edith's childhood congregation welcomed them both with open arms. Later they found community and great friends at Oak Grove Church, which provided them with much joy and communion.
Eliot passed from natural causes at home in NC where he resided for the last two years cared for by his daughter Heather and family. Eliot is survived by Heather, her wife Erin Thompson, grandchildren Tanner and Cameron, and son Peter Ray Thompson.
