Edward B. Tharrington

Garner - Edward Bryant Tharrington, 78, died Sunday. Born in Iredell County, he was the son of the late Hal and Blanche Hagwood Tharrington. A graduate of Needham Broughton High School, he was a supervisor with the NCDOT Bridge Maintenance Division, retiring with 44 years of service. He served in the NC National Guard and was a longtime member of the Garner United Methodist Church, where he was treasurer of the Mens Bible Class for over 40 years. Ed was a charter member and past president of the Garner Jaycees, and served on the advisory board of the North Carolina Jaycees. Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Wednesday at Garner United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Carol Hairr Tharrington; daughter, Jan Tharrington Dorfer of Benson; brother, Richard B.
