Donna Groves Barnes

Donna Groves Barnes, age 62, of Angier, NC died on Tuesday, July 14, 2026 in UNC Rex Holly Springs Hospital with her loving husband by her side. She was born on December 9, 1963.

She is survived by her husband, Tommy Earl Barnes; her daughter, Tonya Inscore; her son, Christopher Denning and his wife, Brooke; her grandchildren, Dixie Alexis Stewart, Shyanne Denning, Eli Stewart, Kenneth Denning and Takota Inscore; her great-grandchild, Josiah Pulley; her sisters, Evelyn Weber, Brenda Gooch and her husband, Robert, Connie Pounds and her husband, Lawrence; her brothers, Ray Groves and his wife, Cathy, Dalton Groves his wife, Louise and Jim Groves and his wife, Ann; her sisters-in-law, Judy Groves and Joann Barnes; her brother-in-law, Kevin Jernigan; and a host of cousins.

She is preceded in death by her birth father, Claudie Elton Groves; her adoptive parents, Woodrow Wilson and Esther Myrtle Groves, her sisters, Denise Avila, Debbie Cherry, Lessie Groves, Verna Mae Groves, and Wanda Kennedy; her brothers, Woody Groves, Owen Groves and Jerry Groves Elliott.

Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 21, 2026 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 300 E. McIver Street, Angier, NC. Her family will receive friends following the service until 3:30pm.
