Donald Wayne Dolen

Raleigh - Donald Wayne Dolen, 75, died peacefully at home on Sunday surrounded by loved ones. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. A veteran of the US Navy, he served from 1955-1959 on the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt. He retired from William B. Riley Company. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Wednesday at Temple of Pentecost. Burial with military honors will follow at Raleigh Memorial Park. Survivors include his devoted wife and best friend of 55 years, Brenda Kirk Dolen; children, Pauline Morris (Timmy), Kay Cuaton-Maier (Ron), Donna Zamudio (Butch), Amy Chance (Keith), and Mona Nichols (Reed). He also leaves behind fourteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; step-brothers, Tommy Matthews (Clydene), Bobbie Glenn Matthews and a step-sister, Rose Sanders. He was preceded in death by his father, Ardell Dolen, mother, Lottie Matthews and step-father, Absalom Joe Matthews. Donald Wayne Dolen leaves behind a legacy of love and will always hold a special place in our hearts. He loved his family beyond measure. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6-8:00 pm at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner.
