Donald Wayne Thompson, 93, of Raleigh, NC passed away peacefully on April 20, 2026 surrounded by his two loving children.
He was born on August 12, 1932, the second of 9 children born to Hezzie and Thelma Thompson. After serving in the US Army, Donald spent his adult career as a barber and was the owner of Roffler Style Shop on Highway 70 in Garner for over 40 years. He loved to work outside and garden. He especially loved growing tomatoes.
Donald is survived by his children, Cindy Smith (Paul), Donnie Thompson, and grandson Cody Smith (Annie), along with sisters Brenda Perry, Judy Sugg, Janice Rogers, and Doris Current.
Along with his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his loving wife, Alice, and siblings, Lou Ella Denton, Jimmy Thompson, Pat Ervin, and Kathleen Ward.
A visitation is planned for Monday, April 27th from 5-7pm at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home. A Funeral service will take place at Vandora Springs Free Will Baptist Church on Tuesday, April 28th at 11:00am.
In lieu of flowers, we encourage you to donate to Tunnel to Towers or the American Cancer Society to honor Donald as a veteran and warrior who battled lung cancer.
