Dixie W. Barbour

GARNER- Dixie Walls Barbour, 73, died Wednesday at her home. Born in Harnett County, she was the daughter of the late Sherwood and Esther Cooke Walls. Mrs. Barbour was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ and a retired school teacher. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Friday at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00-2:00 prior to the service. Mrs. Barbour is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 55 years, Rev. Berry O. Barbour; son, Sterling Barbour and wife, Paula ; daughter, Debbie Spivey and husband, Rex, all of Garner; grandchildren, Brad Barbour and wife, Jill, Lauren B. Blackmon and husband, Brandon, Matthew Spivey and Todd Spivey; sisters, Katie Head and Snowdrop Crowder; brothers, Dwight and Billy Walls. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Nancy Burns, Betty Jane Moss; brothers, Frank, Eugene and Jack Walls and Henry Walls Pendergraft. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Wake County, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607.
