David Michael Buffaloe

David Michael Buffaloe, 53, passed away on June 6, 2026.

A robust man who enjoyed the simple pleasures of hiking and good company, David grew up in Raleigh. He was devoted to his family, the teller of atrocious dad jokes, and often the calm voice of reason. He enjoyed a little harmless mischief, scaring his children with his “hands-free” driving and chasing his long-suffering wife around the house.

A consummate diplomat, he was the perfect foil for his red-headed wife, Karen. David and Karen’s romance spanned 22 years of marriage, four children, adventures to Disney, Biltmore, and the beach, countless travel ball games, and the ongoing drama of raising four active teenagers.

A former high school football player, David encouraged his children to pursue their own love of sports. As they each discovered their talents in baseball, basketball, volleyball, softball, and football, he made it a point to be present for every important event.

With three boys, David became a Hall of Fame defender of their antics whenever their mother got a little too fiery. His daughter, Haley—who still insists she was his favorite—relied on his listening ear, the sound advice she mostly ignored, and the fact that he was easily swayed to her side.

A man of faith, David regularly participated in church services, lived his beliefs by example, and remained steadfast in his walk with the Lord.

His dedication, integrity, and steady character also made him a valued employee during his 15 years with Dixie Pipeline.

David was a devoted husband, father, son, and friend. He was preceded in death by his father, Dwight Buffaloe; his brother, Ken Buffaloe; his paternal grandparents, Julian and Doris Buffaloe; and his maternal grandparents, Wade and Mildred Marion.

David is survived by his wife, Karen; his three sons, Jordan, Hayden, and Jonah; and his daughter, Haley, all of the home. He is also survived by his mother, Brenda Buffaloe; his brother, Bryan Buffaloe (Alissa); and a host of adoring nieces, nephews, relatives, and lifelong friends.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 1200 Benson Road, Garner, NC 27529.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 12, 2026, at First Baptist Church, 601 St. Mary’s Street, Garner, NC 27529. Burial at Montlawn Memorial Park will immediately follow the service.
