Daniel Burghardt, 61, of Tobaccoville, North Carolina, passed away on November 17, 2025. Born in Manhattan, New York on January 11, 1964. Daniel grew up with a love of athletics, excelling in track and high jumping. He attended the New York Institute of Technology before embarking on a successful career in IT security, a field in which he took great pride and found lifelong purpose.
Daniel lived life with enthusiasm and curiosity. He loved traveling, discovering great food, photography, riding motorcycles, and skeet shooting. An avid collector, he enjoyed building collections of coins and stamps. In recent years, he embraced pickleball and drinking fine liquors while smoking cigars on his porch. He had been excitedly planning many future RV adventures- trips he looked forward to with joy. He most recently purchased his dream mountain home, a place where he joyfully hosted many “guys’ weekends” with his closest friends—memories he deeply cherished.
Above all else, Daniel loved his family. One of his proudest accomplishments in life was becoming a father twice, a joy he later experienced all over again through the eyes of his beloved granddaughter, Skylar. She brought immeasurable joy to his life and adored every moment spent with her. Known for his quirky humor and playful spirit, Daniel was also someone others could rely on for a helping hand or wise guidance. He had a generous heart and an unforgettable presence.
Daniel was born to Stephen and Virginia Burghardt, who preceded him in death. He was the eldest of their three children and is survived by his siblings, Paul Burghardt and Stephanie Edwards. He leaves behind his children, Alexandra Noah and Nicholas Burghardt, and his beloved granddaughter, Skylar Noah. He is also survived by his long-term partner, Sandra Kucmierz, as well as his former wife and the mother of his children, Donna Walton, Aunt Christine Cantello, Uncle Eric Zuesse, sister-in-law Jennifer Burghardt, son-in-law Nathaniel Noah, and many cherished friends.
Daniel lived boldly, loved deeply, and will be remembered with great affection by all who were fortunate enough to know him
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Stokes Family YMCA, 105 Moore Rd, King, NC 27021.
