In loving memory of Dale Maurice Sims, born June 29, 1958, in Cabarrus County, NC. Dale passed away unexpectedly at his home in Zebulon, NC on January 20, 2026.
Dale met the love of his life, and wife, Patrice A. Sims, in 1988. They were married in Zebulon, NC in 1991. For 41 years, Dale worked as a Communications Technician for AT&T and retired in 2025. Dale was an avid musician; writing songs, playing his multitude of guitars, and recording original music in his studio. Dale also handcrafted guitars; his intention was to sell them, but instead they were always added to his vast collection of instruments. Another of Dale's passions was collecting new and vintage muscle cars (as evidenced by his recent purchase of a 1974 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray convertible); his fondness for cars was passed to his sons. Dale loved his German Shepherd dogs and always had several as pets (although everyone that knew Dale will acknowledge his favorite was Sasha). He tolerated Patrice's cat because he knew it made her happy. Dale was a remarkable man and husband, but he was at his best being a Dad. His sons were always aware he was there to support them for anything and everything. He was preceded in death by his father, Jimmy M. Sims, and his mother, Linda L. Sims.
Dale is survived by his wife, Patrice Sims; their children Ethan Dale Sims (Lauren) and Jarrad Patrick Sims (Danica); his sister Laurie S. McWhirter (Tony), and his brother Kenneth B. Sims (Susan). Also surviving are his nieces, Christina Blank (Kosta); Paris Carden (Simone); and Briana McWhirter, along with great-nephews Alexander and Leonardo Blank. A special thanks is sent to Zach George for being such a great musician friend to Dale.
Dale is in the trusted care of Bryan-Lee Funeral Home and chose to be cremated. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Heart Association.
