Curtis Michael "Mike" Benson, a loving husband, father and grandfather passed away March 3, 2025 at the age of 71.
A native of Chilton County Alabama, he was the son of the late Charles Curtis Benson and Rilla Faye Littleton Benson. Mike will be missed by his daughters, Shannon Benson Franklin (Kirk) of Fuquay-Varina, Lacy Lynn Benson of Willow Spring; sons Nathan Lee Benson (Pam) of Angier, Charles Casey Benson of Angier; brother, Barry Benson of Jemison, AL; grandchildren, Nathan Miles Benson, Jackson Lee Benson, Ava Lynn Benson, Charles Curtis Benson, Sophie Grace Franklin and Hollie Suzanne Franklin.
Mike was fondly known as Pop to family and friends. Pop's work as a master carpenter was marked by precision, creativity, strong work ethic, and a little bit of sawdust in his coffee cup. Pop patiently and proudly shared his knowledge of his trade with his sons and anyone willing to listen. His work not only stood the test of time but also served as a legacy of his dedication to his craft. His perfectly timed, witty sense of humor and gift for storytelling made him a favorite on every jobsite.
While he was a hard worker, he greatly valued his family. He was a devoted husband to Grace and had immense pride in his four children. Being Pop Pop to his grandchildren brought him joy. He enjoyed simple pleasures in life like fishing, listening to his favorite music, and watching westerns. He loved music and had a passion for playing guitar. He spent his younger years traveling and playing with his band Mother Peace Incorporated.
He was loved and will be dearly missed.
A celebration of life service will be held on Sunday March 9th at 2:00 PM at Angier Baptist Church, Angier, NC. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to Angier Baptist Church in Mike's memory.
