Constance "Connie" Connell Fortmeyer

Connie Fortmeyer, 93, of Garner, NC died early Monday morning, May 4, 2026, in the presence of family. She was born in Anne Arundel County, Maryland on October 2, 1932.

Connie was predeceased by her husband, Raymond. D. Fortmeyer (USMC ret.), her daughter, Caroline Fortmeyer Johnson, and her grandson, Karl W. von St Paul.

She is survived by three children: Rebecca "Becky" Fortmeyer von St Paul, Kurt C. Fortmeyer (Nina), and Katherine "Kate" Fortmeyer Beck. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Franklin "Ryan" Johnson (Stacie), Kendra Fortmeyer, Dakota Taylor-Beck (Erika), Max von St Paul (Elizabeth), Dr. Ivy Fortmeyer, and Dylan Beck (Reena).

While she loved her children and grandchildren, Connie took special delight in her great-grandchildren: Aidan, Leo, Lily, and Ava.

The family would like to thank Foundation Senior Living for keeping Connie safe and cared for the last four and a half years. Special thanks go out to Tristan, Joy, Irene, and Crystal for supporting and loving the family through the end. The family would also like to thank Gentiva Hospice for stepping in on such short notice to care for Connie during her transition.

Connie was a charter member of Lord of Life Lutheran Church ELCA. A memorial service will be held at the church at 2100 Buffaloe Road, Garner, NC 27529 at 11am on Saturday, May 23, 2026, with a reception to follow in the fellowship hall.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Connie's name to Lord of Life Lutheran Church, Appalachian Wildlife Rescue www.appalachianwild.org , or to a charity of their choice.
