Concetta Vecchione

Concetta "Connie" Vecchione, born on March 15, 1935, in Jersey City, New Jersey, passed away on December 6, 2025, in Holly Springs, North Carolina.

Connie was the youngest and last surviving child of Frances Pavone and Joseph Scarpulla. She was preceded in death by her beloved siblings Cecilia Montecalvo, Philippa Totaro, Susanna McInerney, and Ciro Scarpulla.

Family and friends were at the heart of Connie's life growing up in Hoboken, New Jersey. She met the love of her life, James "Jim" Vecchione, while bowling in a church league at St. Francis Parish in Hoboken. They married in 1958, later settling in Ridgefield Park, New Jersey in 1971, and built a life together filled with faith, laughter, and unwavering devotion.

A proud and devout Catholic, Connie expressed her faith through music, singing in church choirs for many years and serving her parish as a lector. She performed in musical theater productions, where her joy for singing and dancing shone brightly. She was always ready for a lively poker or card game, enjoyed bingo nights, and was known for her exceptional cooking and baking.

In 2006, Connie and Jim moved to Boynton Beach, Florida, to be closer to their daughter Donna and her family, and in 2023 they relocated to Holly Springs, North Carolina, to be near their son Jay and his family. No matter where life took her, Connie created a home filled with warmth, kindness, and the welcoming spirit she was known for.

Connie is survived by her devoted husband of 67 years, James Vecchione; her children Donna (Rick) Cuadra and James "Jay" (Sokha) Vecchione; her grandchildren Nicholas Tavares, Stephanie Tavares, Jeremy Tavares, Angelina Vecchione, James Vecchione, Rebecca (Chase) Reed, and David (Marena) Cuadra; great grandchildren Mylo Cuadra, Enzo Cuadra and Willow Cuadra; and many beloved nieces and nephews who adored their Aunt Connie.

She will be remembered for her generous heart, her joyful voice, and the love she shared so freely with everyone blessed to know her.

Details for a Celebration of Life will be announced at a later time.
