Clayton Howard Hobbs

Clayton Howard Hobbs, 70, of Rocky Mount, NC passed away peacefully after a long battle with Parkinson's disease on August 18, 2026 surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on May 21, 1956 in Asheboro, NC and spent his childhood in Charlotte, NC. He attended NC State, where he studied accounting and spent his career working as a CPA. He was an avid runner for much of his life and completed the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, DC as well as the New York City Marathon with his wife. He retired after being diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and was active in the Parkinson's community, founding the Parkinson's Center of Raleigh in 2000. He and his wife were also actively involved in volunteering with Chihuahua Rescue and Transport while living in Raleigh, NC. He and his wife moved to Rocky Mount, NC in 2023.

Howard is survived by his loving wife, Mary Jo; his children, Matthew and Sarah, Kim and Jimmy; his grandchildren, Raven and Drake, Landon and Peyton, Pfeiffer and Lathan; and siblings, Harriet, Jan, Mary and Bill.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Janet and Harry.

A Celebration of Life visitation will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026 at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home in Garner, NC from 4:00-6:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to any Parkinson's charity or Chihuahua Rescue and Transport, Inc. Southeastern Region.
