Christine Wilburn Franklin

Christine Ellis Wilburn Franklin, went to be with her heavenly Father on Monday, December 25, 2023 at the age of 88. A native of Wake County and the daughter of the late Helen Grady Wilburn and the late Richard Carl Wilburn, she is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, William H Franklin, Jr. and her brother, Richard Carl Wilburn, Jr.

For Christine, what was most important to her was her faith, her family, and her ability to help people. No matter what time of day or night, all that knew her knew they could count on her. At the age of 40, Christine decided it was time to achieve her lifelong dream of becoming a nurse and went back to school to obtain her nursing license. She then proceeded to work for 25 years as a surgical and orthopedic nurse at Rex Hospital. Christine would often say that she loved every minute that she spent working as a nurse and knew that this was where she was meant to be, helping patients and their loved ones through some of their toughest times. Christine had an incredible gift when it came to patient care as was evident from the numerous letters from her patients and their families on how much her care and kindness meant to them.

Christine also loved to travel and was always up for an adventure with her dear friend, the late Patricia Silvers. Together they visited many different countries over the years and loved everything she was able to see and experience.

We would like to thank Lisa Ellis Walton, who could not have been a dearer friend in supporting Christine and the family.

Christine is survived by her daughter Signa Carter and husband Ron, and many sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

While Christine is in a much better place and Heaven is undoubtedly rejoicing in her arrival, she will be greatly missed by those who called her friend, family, and mother.

A public viewing will be held, Friday, December 29, 2023 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm in the Bryan Lee Funeral Home.

Her graveside service will be held Friday, December 29, 2023 at 2:00 pm in the Montlawn Memorial Park.
