Christine Pope Hoeger

Christine Pope Hoeger, 81, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2025, following a period of declining health. She was born in Georgetown, South Carolina, on March 8, 1944, and was the daughter of the late Elbert Anderson Pope Sr. and Geneva McDaniel Pope.

Christine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Early in her life she met and married her great love and best friend, Karl Hoeger, spending 62 memorable years together. The thing she was most fond of was her family, her love and commitment to them was something to admire and was reflected in all that she did. She will be missed greatly and will forever be remembered by her family and friends as a woman of great compassion and strength.

In addition to her parents, Christine is preceded in death by her brothers, Jerry Pope, Ronnie Pope, and Junior Pope; all of whom she loved very dearly.

Christine is survived by her loving husband, Karl Hoeger; sons, Jonathan Hoeger, Raymond Hoeger, and David Hoeger; brother, Kenny Pope; grandchildren, Matthew Hoeger, Stacey Burnet, Christopher Hoeger, and Brian Hoeger; and 6 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 21, 2025, at 4:00 PM, at Broken Wing Fellowship Church, 1837 E Garner Rd, Raleigh, NC 27610. A visitation will take place prior to the service, from 3:00 PM - 3:45 PM. Christine will be laid to rest at Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery during a private family committal service.
