Cheryl Ann Chapin (Buckholdt), age 82, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2025, in Fuquay Varina, North Carolina.
Born on July 6, 1943, in Cleveland, Ohio, Cheryl was the daughter of Marion and Henry Buckholdt. She grew up with a strong sense of family and joy that would remain central to her life. Cheryl brought warmth and laughter wherever she went-her kind heart, quick wit, and ever-present smile made her a light to those around her. Cheryl was an avid reader, loved to be in the yard tending to her plants, and enjoyed traveling with her husband.
On March 11, 1967, Cheryl married Stephen D. Chapin, beginning a devoted partnership that spanned nearly six decades. Together they built a loving home filled with laughter and unwavering support. Cheryl was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother who poured her heart into caring for her family.
Cheryl worked as a secretary for Verizon's Public Relations and Commercial Systems sales division in Washington, DC. In her professional life, Cheryl was known for her diligence and cheerful demeanor-traits that endeared her to colleagues and clients alike.
Cheryl's greatest joy came from being a mother and grandmother. She cherished every moment spent with her daughter Laura C. Fox and found boundless happiness in the company of her grandchildren, Riley Grace Fox and Logan C. Fox. Her love for them knew no bounds; they were the center of her world.
After retiring, Cheryl and Steve moved to Lake Royale, where they spent 16 wonderful years together on the lake. Their home quickly became a favorite gathering place for family, especially their beloved grandchildren. Whether out on the water, gardening in the yard, or simply enjoying quiet afternoons with new-found friends, those moments brought them immeasurable joy. Their years at Lake Royale were among the happiest of their lives, filled with love, laughter, and the beauty of the community they cherished.
Cheryl is lovingly remembered by her siblings Jane Meade (Ernest - deceased), Christine Achtzener (Joe), Robert Buckholdt (Darlene), and their families. Cheryl was preceded in death by her beloved son Michael R. Chapin, as well as her parents, Marion and Henry.
Those who knew Cheryl will remember her as someone who was always happy-and wanted everyone else to be happy too. Her silliness brought smiles to countless faces, and her kindness left an indelible mark on all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
May Cheryl Ann Chapin's memory bring comfort to those who loved her and continue to inspire joy in the lives she touched. All are welcome for her Celebration of Life which will be held on December 20, 2025, from 03:00 PM to 05:00 PM at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 300 E. McIver Street, Angier, NC, 27501. In keeping with Cheryl's spirit, casual attire is perfectly appropriate.
