Charlotte Elizabeth Messer

Charlotte Elizabeth Messer, 79, of Cary, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at home on October 30, 2025, surrounded by her loving family and friends. Born June 18, 1946, in Brooklyn, New York, and raised in Zebulon, North Carolina, Charlotte was the daughter of Charles Scarboro and Caroline Tighe. She married the love of her life, Phillip Messer, on March 2, 1969, and together they raised two children and welcomed two grandchildren into their lives.

Charlotte loved her work and the people she worked with, where she had many great friends. The beach was one of her favorite things, as well as spending time with family and friends.

 She is survived by her children, Derrick and Kristie Messer; grandchildren, Justin and Ashley Messer; her brother, Mike Scarboro; her beloved dogs, Chewbacca and Buster; and the many friends who were like family to her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip Messer; her parents, Charles Scarboro and Caroline Tighe; and her sister, Wendy Scarboro.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00PM on Sunday, November 2 at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 1200 Benson Road Garner NC 27529. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Burial will take place at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Fuquay-Varina on Monday, November 3 at 10:00 AM.
