Charles Melvin Boykin

GARNER– Charles Melvin Boykin, 81, died Sunday. A native of Wake County, he was the son of the late Wade Oliver Boykin and Bertha Bailey Boykin. Mr. Boykin served many years in the National Guard and retired from the Communications Workers of America. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Thursday at First Baptist Church of Garner. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Carolyn Hamrick Boykin; son, Tony Boykin of Clayton; 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Jo Wallace and brothers, Guilford Boykin and Elbert Boykin. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00-8:00 pm at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner.
