Charles Allen Wood

Raleigh - Charles Allen Wood, 90, loving father, grandfather and brother, passed away on Wednesday. He was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Etra. Mr. Wood was a US Army veteran, having served his country during WWII. He began his career as a health educator on the Navajo Reservation and in 1965, moved to Raleigh with his wife, Etra, where he finished his career with the Wake County Health Department. Charles was a longtime member of The Church of the Good Shepherd and was an avid gardener. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Saturday at The Church of the Good Shepherd in Raleigh. Burial will be 4:00 pm at Western Prong Baptist Church Cemetery, Whiteville, NC. Survivors include his sons, Tim Wood and wife, Carmen, Chuck Wood and wife, Becky; grandchildren, Rebecca, Seth, Ryan and Allison Wood, Alyssa and Sydney Andrews; sister, MaryLou Baum. The family will receive friends from 7-9:00 pm Thursday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner.
