Carolyn Frost Martinez

October 18, 1944 — May 19, 2025

As our tears appeared and our hearts felt empty, Carolyn Frost Martinez departed her 80-year-long journey to heaven in the late hours of May 18th/19th at her home in Garner, NC with her family by her side. In the overnight hours, she peacefully joined her long-awaiting parents Nile and Dolly (Groves) Frost; sister Marilyn Frost; son James Richard Martinez; and infant granddaughter Cheyenne Pearl Derrick.

Carolyn was born and raised at home on the family farm in Gallatin, MO, on October 18, 1944. She attended and graduated from Jameson High School, where she played saxophone in the band and was a member of the girls basketball team. After graduating, Carolyn moved into the YWCA in St. Joseph, MO to continue her education at Platt College for Business. After completing her education, she married on February 11, 1966. Carolyn and Casimiro "Marty" celebrated 59 wonderful years filled with love, joy, happiness, compassion and challenges together this year. In those years, she stayed home to raise their son until he passed away at the age of 4 and continued raising her two daughters with love and support. She also enjoyed fishing, watching football, and being with her husband, children and grandchildren. Many memories and fun times with family started in St. Joseph, MO then "Marty" was relocated with his job to Watsontown, PA, and finally to Garner, NC. The location of home may have changed over the years, but Carolyn always filled her home with her smile, laughter, jokes, humor, unconditional support, and love.

Carolyn's wonderful, supportive and loving husband Casimiro "Marty" Martinez; daughters Jennifer (Matt) Derrick of NC, Erika (Brian) Bryson of PA; granddaughter Courtenay (Tunahan) Gülhan of Germany; grandsons Jamie Derrick of NC, Cody Derrick of NC; great-grandson Bjørn Gülhan of Germany; and numerous cousins and friends will continue to miss and remember her, but will keep her with them forever in their hearts.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association or Heartland (Gentiva) Hospice 4515 Falls of Neuse Road.

A private service was held for the immediate family May 21, 2025.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Heartland Hospice and Bryan Lee Funeral Home for their compassion and support during such a difficult time. Your care helped ease our burden and brought comfort when it was needed most.
