Carolyn Byrd

Carolyn Bowling Byrd, age 76, of Raleigh, NC died on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 in WakeMed Raleigh. She was born July 12, 1949 in Wake County, NC to the late Coy Thomas and Violet Nordan Bowling.

She is survived by her husband, Wayne Byrd; her daughter, Lisa Byrd Penny and her husband, Jonathan; her son, Jeremy Wayne Byrd and his significant other, Patti Bryant; her grandchildren, Dawson Penny, Kacie Penny, Preston Byrd, Tori Massengil and Hunter Bryant; her sister, Martha Wood and her husband, Frank; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Diane Church and her brother, Tim Bowling.

Her family will receive friends on Thursday, August 28, 2025, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 300 E. McIver Street, Angier, NC.

Her funeral service will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025, at 11:00 am at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 10005 Lake Wheeler Road, Fuquay-Varina, NC with burial to follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011.
