Carol Ann Toomajian, 81, of Raleigh, passed away Sunday, September 6, 2026, at her home after a brief illness.
Carol was born in Troy, NY on April 23, 1945, to the late Charles Toomajian, Sr. and Goldie Shooshan Toomajian. She graduated from Troy High School in 1963 and Hudson Valley Community College in 1965. She married the late Richard O. Perusse in 1969 and had one son, Charles, who survives her. Carol lived in New York City and upstate New York until relocating to Havelock, NC in 1985, later moving to Raleigh. She retired after 55 years in food service, at Bayside Restaurant in Havelock, Oak City Diner and the State Farmers Market Restaurant in Raleigh, where she was known as the Wolfpack Lady. She enjoyed visiting NYC annually over the last 15 years to take in baseball games, museums and Broadway shows. She was a lifelong NY Yankees and NY Giants fan, and while living in NC, was affectionately known as "Pac Pac" to her grandsons for her support of all NC State Wolfpack athletics and the Carolina Hurricanes. Carol was a congregant of Holy Name of Jesus Cathedral on Nazareth Drive in Raleigh and was an active volunteer at Healing Transitions: A Place for Recovery for many years until her health declined.
She is survived by her son Charles Perusse (Wendy), two grandsons (Griffin and Keaton), all of Raleigh, one brother, Charles Toomajian Jr., (Liz) of Sioux Falls, SD, and other extended family. The family wishes to offer a special thanks to Warren Midgett, close friend and caregiver, for his support and care during her illness.
Bryan-Lee Funeral Homes of Raleigh is overseeing arrangements. An informal celebration is planned for Monday, October 5, 2026, from 4-6 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Transitions Life Care or St. Jude.
