Carol Rose La ne passed away peacefully in the evening of September 5, 2025, in Raleigh, NC. She was born in Bennettsville, SC on March 21, 1950, the first of 4 daughters of the late Ruth Rachels Lane and S. Grady Lane.

Carol grew up on the family farm and graduated from Scotland High School in Laurinburg. She attended Wingate College, receiving a business degree. For many years she worked in clerical and administrative positions for various insurance companies.

The Lane family moved to Cary in the 1970s and joined First United Methodist Church. Carol participated in activities including a UMW Circle where she developed close friendships.

She is survived by sisters, Joy Lane Hoke and husband, Bill, of High Point, NC; Janet Lane Hiatt of Belmont, NC; and Sarah Lane of Raleigh. Sarah was Carol's primary care giver for the past twelve years while she lived at Litchford Falls Health and Rehabilitation Center. Also surviving are three nieces and one nephew, as well as four great nieces and four great nephews and other extended family members.

At Litchford Falls, she played Bingo, created crafts, and enjoyed the ice cream socials. She attended worship services on Sunday when different churches came to share God's word. She liked when musicians came to entertain the residents, especially when they played familiar Christian songs.

Carol's family would like to thank the staff at Litchford Falls for their good care over the many years she lived there. They treated her like family; she felt special and loved there. It was a true blessing to live where she felt at home.
