Carol Gower Fox

Carol Gower Fox, 69, died peacefully on Friday, May 1, 2026 at her home in Garner.

A native of Kinston, Carol was born to the late Robert Lee and Arlene Byrd Gower. She is survived by her husband, Dean Fox of Garner; sons Chris Stancil and Brad Stancil; sister Tammy Rolison and husband Chris; nephew Ryan and wife Amber; nephew Robbie and wife Katy; and grandchildren Christian, Brantly, Ellary, Carter and Ayden Stancil.

Carol was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend who cherished her family and those close to her above all else. Her life was defined by love and the way she made everyone feel at home. She also was the lead instigator of playful pranks on family and friends. Her greatest joy was being surrounded by family, creating memories that will be cherished forever.

A true animal lover, Carol cared for a multitude of living things during her lifetime. From rabbits to reptiles, cockatiels to ducks, dogs and cats, there was nothing with fur, feathers or even scales that she would not love and care for if given the chance.

She also had a deep love for the beach, where the sound of the waves brought her calmness and a warmth she carried within her. Though she is no longer physically with us, her love remains - steady and enduring, like the ocean she loved so much.

A gathering to celebrate her life will be held on Sunday, May 17 from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 1200 Benson Road, Garner, NC 27529. Guests will be given the opportunity during the celebration service to share any memories of Carol should they so desire to. We are sure there are many wonderful stories out there documenting the enjoyment she brought to so many lives.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the loving care and support provided by Gentiva Hospice and Always Best Care Senior Services, most especially to one of her daily caregivers - Frances. Her loving care and gentleness with Carol made Frances an angel on earth for our family during a difficult time.

In lieu of flowers the family wishes that donations be made to SPCA of Wake County, St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital or to a charity of their choosing.
